"Tida Thai's" New Location at First Colonial & Laskin Rd.. Tried out this place at their new location 12 June, 2011, and it was wonderful. I never really heard about them or tried them out, and the other 4 existing locations, until a mailer with coupons appeared. It's a bit hidden in the K-Mart shopping center at the corner of First Colonial and Laskin Rd. in a strip shop next to a CHKD Thrift Store. This location opened a couple months ago. The interior is still very new and clean (including the restrooms) with glittery custom booth tables decorated with various images, as well as a section with higher standing tables and chairs. Nice track lighting is installed on both side walls, but artwork is absent from one - possibly for some later additions? A bar exists at this location, but their website only lists the Pembroke location as having a 'full bar'. Most of their menu is available on their website for review, and I noted a happy hour with $3 various bottled and 3 draught beers at a table display. Our young female server seemed nervous and struggled a bit to communicate with us, but she made up for it with frequent visits to check on us and refill our drinks. We started with the Thai dumplings (free with 2 entrees and a mailed coupon) and a small Thai egg roll (1 with each entree). Deb got the Pork Kapaw and I had the Beef Sriracha. (both tasty... AND nice and spicy) Finished with hot Taro Pearls in coconut milk. Good prices for Thai I would say - all of that for lunch + 2 iced teas for ~$25. ('Bangkok Garden' might be in trouble if more people knew about places like this, though the decor isn't as elaborate at 'Tida Thai'.) -And when was the last time you ate out and the owner/chef (in this case 'Jack') came out to introduce himself, ask if you were happy with everything, and tell you that they want you to feel like family whenever you visit?! I'm actually looking forward to going again and trying more of their menu.

Great Little Thai Restaurant in Chesapeake!. It is true, this little casual restaurant is tucked away in a corner of a shopping center. It isn't too easy to spot driving off of Military Hwy. Once there, I found the service to be amicable and efficient. I had the Spring Rolls, although fried, they were very tasty. The traditional Pad Thai Noodles was delicious and filling. Everyone else in our party enjoyed their meal too. Jack their Chef came out to greet us personally and made sure we were content. I really appreciated that effort! Overall, we had a nice experience and I would return and share the word to others. Thanks!

Best Thai in the area-Hands Down!. My husband and I were lucky enough to find Tida Thai after moving to Chesapeake two months ago. We can't get enough! Despite its location tucked away in the rear of a nondescript Military Hwy. shopping center, this is the best Thai we've had in the area (and in many cities around the USA) to date. I've tried the Panang Curry (like eating sunshine!) and the Drunken Noodles, and both were out of this world. For appetizers, the chicken satay and papaya salad were both very nice. Jack, the personable owner/chef, will come out to check on his customers throughout their meals.

Be sure to try the mango and sticky rice for dessert. It is heavenly. Jack claims to have a way to keep serving this dish throughout the winter, when most other Thai restaurants take it off the seasonal menu. We intend to put him to the test!
