Great Local Spot. Great place for locals to gather and enjoy a good brunch.

Good Value on the food. Drinks, not so much.

Great food and great people. I have been going here for years and they have always had good food and the servers are friendly. My husband and I got married at VA Beach two years ago and his entire family came from all over and we told them we had to go to Bog Sam's. We had a big group of people, probably 11 or more, most of you know how small the place is but the staff was nice enough to push tables together for us, of course we did have to wait a little for the place to clear out but the entire family loved it. Also, the specials they have are so creative and like nothing else you can find at the beach. Basically, good food and great people.

Great food. Went there while vacationing in Virginia Beach. Looking for a more local hangout than all the other frufru places on Rudee's Inlet and decided on Big Sam's. We were pleasantly suprised!. From the appetizers all the way to our dessert. All were amazing. The hot wings were the best we've ever had at a restaurant. The oysters, the spicy steamed shrimp, the buffalo shrimp, the fried shrimp platter and blueberry cheesecake left us wanting more. So we went back the next day! And we were not disappointed. The beer and drink specials were great. The Big Sam's Limeaid was also delicious. Can't wait for our next vacation in Virginia Beach.

Awesome Crabcakes!!!!!. I live about 170 miles away, however my brother lives in VA Beach. When I visit him, I MUST make a visit to Big Sam's. My girlfriends and I take a trip yearly and we may eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner there. They have the biggest crabcakes I have ever seen. It is a little pricey, but to be expected at the beach. If they're busy, the service has been slow but it is worth the wait!!!!

Will not return. Not good and somewhat expensive for the type of food/ambiance. We were told that they had good chicken wings so we ordered them. The wings were so bad we paid our bill and left without eating them. The drink menu did look good...maybe this is what this place is good for.

Not Recommended. Origin: NYC

Date: July 4h Weekend

Supposedly known for the crab cakes? Yea right! Way too much pepper. I?ve had better in NYC. A raw / steamed clam was about the size of a quarter. Raw oysters were sandy; apparent that they were not washed thoroughly. Each type $10/doz. Service was slow; beer took 15 minutes to arrive; yet no reminder needed. Taste was definitely not worth it for the price. Maybe I'm just spoiled with Manhattan taste. Sorry guys, 'not recommended' in my book.

Editorial Review by Christy Buena. Locals enjoy Atlantic seafood and daily specials at the restaurant that overlooks the Rudee Inlet and offers outdoor dining.

Great location shame bout the service. Fun and funky location. Great place for a bloody mary on a late sunday morn or cocktails on a warm summer night. Food is good for this type of place but definitely not high end cuisine. Very spotty waitress service ranging from attentive to downright amnesia. Go for a meal before any type of crowd appears or you could be left hanging. Overall, a fun hangout with rocking drinks and a party atmosphere.
