Have a party here!!!. We reserved Hot Tuna's private room for our wedding reception; we had a small reception with mainly family, of about 30 people. The staff was extremely accommodating with helping us plan out the dinner. The manager sat down with us personally and helped us decide on menu options, seating arrangements, etc. They have a variety of options to choose from for private parties, and they are so helpful at providing excellent suggestions. The manager even made sure we could get in a little early to decorate--just really willing to help us any way possible. The room is beautiful, the atmosphere is original and casual, yet elegant. The entire staff was excited for us that night and made us feel very welcome & comfortable. The food was fantastic, the service was outstanding. I would recommend Hot Tuna's party room for any event. We were really pleased with how it turned out. I hope we have many more occasions to celebrate there!
Great Mojitos and Great Calamari!!!.
We went to Hot Tuna last Friday night. Their were four of us. We all had Mojito & Margarita's. They were all very good.
For appetizers we had the Calimari, the Sashimi Tuna, and the Beer Battered Shrimp. They were also very good.
The Parmesan Tuna and the Filet Mignon with Crab meat were awesome for dinner.
We will be back. The service was outstanding!!!
get the fish taco!. I read online that if you visited Virginia Beach, to make sure you go to Hot Tuna's and get their famous fish taco. I did and was well pleased. It was a tortialla with lettuce, tomato, fried fish pieces, and an incredible baja sauce. I can't wait to go back to Hot Tuna's next time I am in Virginia and have been craving their fish taco ever since!
Attentive staff, inviting atmosphere and decor.
Being new to the neighborhood, my husband and I were excited to try out a new restaurant, especially after researching on CitySearch. We were excited to try some of the early bird dinner items, which by the way only last until 6:00 pm, not 6:30. Alas, we were too late and slightly disappointed. Nonetheless, the decor was cool and inviting. The bar looked hoppin for a Monday night. The staff was extremely attentive and brought our drinks right away. The mojitos looked fabulous as well as the sangria. (Preganant here - so no alcohol.) I ordered the she-crab as suggested and I must say that it did not dazzle me. I felt there should be actual chunks of crab for a $4 cup of soup. I also ordered the crabcake sandwich. Again, I wanted to be dazzled but was not. There was no imagination put into it. It was a small cake (did not fill the size of the bun) with lettuce, tomato and onion. The tomato was over ripe and I would have liked to have seen this paired with some type of aioli rather than the 1,000 island dressing. My husband very much enjoyed his burger and could barely finish it, that's what a mighty burger it was. Overall, we will go back for another try and hopefully the she crab will be a bit meatier.
Before I forget, Kudos to the management team. My husband and I are very impressed with your friendliness towards new patrons and have raved to friends back home that we very much like your "style".
Beer-battered shrimp and hard-rocking bands make this Tidewater club worth a visit, day or night..
In Short
This place has enough paper mache to justify a Mardi Gras float: a giant starfish above the door, huge multi-colored fish poking out of the walls, an 18-foot dragon separating bar from restaurant. The near psychedelic decor is complemented by seafood (some of it in fresh from Cape Hatteras) and top-40 bands (which play on the stage tucked behind the large screen TV that's down during the day).
Hot Tuna is Hot again. For an unbelievable value, let alone an excellent meal and service, you've got to try the early bird specials..ordered before 6:30pm. The 6 choices include soup or salad..try the she-crab..includes JUMBO fried shrimp, grilled fresh fish of the day, tuna or chicken fajitas or pastas all for $8.99. You'll need a coupon on the weekends though. "Happy Hour" drink prices are still in effect at that time too. GREAT TIME! Enjoy!
