best kept secret! best she crab soup-bar none!.
Margie & Ray's is with out a doubt the best down home seafood cooking in Va Beach! This is casual dining at it's best. We recommend the she crab soup and the fried flounder-you will walk away very content! It is busy during tourist season but they have a nice outdoor deck so the wait is comfortable. As a local business owner many out of towners ask for recommendations on good sea food dineing-they always call to thank us!

A Great Place To Eat As Long As......... I ate here several times with coworkers of all races for lunch while working in the area and the food was always great however, I decided to take my wife who is african-american there for dinner one night since she loves she-crab soup. We were seated in the very back of the restaurant and completely ignored by the wait staff 15 minutes after walking around us and waiting on other patrons the waitress took our drink order and food order 30 minutes later our food arrived minus silverware. We waitied another 15 minutes for acknowledgement from our waitress and were finally handed silverware to eat our cold entree's with. We kindly declined the food and asked to be charged with the drinks and soup so we could leave they complied but treated us like shit while we were leaving I have never been so humiliated in all of my life! I didnt know we were going back in time to the 1950's. My suggestion is that if you are not white do not eat here its almost like walking into a klu klux klan clubhouse
Margie and Ray's Hours.... Just for the poster above... they open at 11am everyday. Great food!
Best local and privately owned seafood restaurant in Virginia Beach.. If you are looking for a deliciously Southern seafood experience, try Margie and Rays. Their crab soup is amazing, the food plentiful, and the service welcoming. Not a traditional chain owned dining center, this privately owned restaurant is not for the picky, fickle, or aristocrat. But as a local Virginia Beach resident and seafood fanatic myself , I reccomend Margie and Rays to everyone, just as long as you're ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into a giagantic plate of delicious home made seafood.
best shecrab soup i have ever eaten. My family drove past this restaurant on our way to stay at our vacation beach house. We drove past this place thinking that does not look like a nice place to eat. So we drove on and did not stop. We kept hearing good things about it from other people so finally in the middle of the week we stopped in for dinner. We were greeted by a lovely hostess who sat us immediately. Then we of course oredered she crab soup which was brought in less than two minutes. After the first bite i knew i was hooked. For diner we had the tidal wave for four people. When it came we couldn't believe how big it was. It had all the fried things including french fries, hush puppies, and coleslaw. It also had all the steamed things including broccoli. we thought the place and service was amazing and next thing we are visisting we are for sure stopping in.
Service is terrible! when you complain you are blamed and told you are wrong. Horrible service. Not sanitary - worker stepped on the paper tablecloth then proceeded to put it on a table.. We ate here with our 27 month old. It took 1 hr for his chicken fingers to be served. I waited almost 30 minutes for a refill on my sweet tea. My wife's shrimp were not deveined and when we asked about this, we were told that is the way they serve them and we are the first to ever complain. Then the owner proceeded to tell us these are the best shrimp we will ever eat and was not willing to accomodate us whatsoever. We asked that we not be charged for this dish since we would not eat it, so they tried to charge us $6 for the french fries that my wife ate as part of this dish. When we questioned this, they ripped up the check in front of us and told us to just get out. We did not try to argue but wanted to understand the bill. To be treated that way was horrible. I witnessed a worker step on the paper tablecloth and another one drag on the ground, but she still proceeded to put it on a table - not sanitary. Drive past this locals restaurant if you're on your way to Sandbridge.
