No Complaints

by Kyr

I have not had a bad experience at The Wave. I enjoy the food. My husband and I attend durring Happy Hour on Friday nights, our bill tends to run around $30. I do not find that bad for our night out on the town by any means. Especially when you compare it to any of the "bar and grill" food chains. We will each have at least 1 drink, steak, 2 sides, and salad. Never have we walked out dissatisfied.

I have been going, personally for over three years now.

Great Music Great People

by anderbrock

This Bar/CLUB is the best in norfolk and is one of the best on the entire east coast. The different nights include

Tuesday: 'DoomGloom' featuring Goth, new wave, and German electro.

Wednesday(NEW JULY 2007) :TRILL Featuring New Wave Electro, Dance Rock, Hip Hop, Electro Pop, Techno, Ambient, and much unclassifiable amazing dance music and awesome DJs.

Thursday: 80's NIGHT. this night was voted best club night in Virginia i believe 2 years in a row and is generally the busiest night of the week.

Friday: SWAYZE which includes indie, brit electro, and brit pop, with some new wave here and there- also an AMAZING night.

Saturday: i don't know the specific name for this night but it includes a lot of trance, techno, and electro new wave.

The atmosphere of The Wave is very industrial with metallic accents and diamond plating every where. 3 bars one large bar in front another on the far side of the dance floor and another large bar area in the back with pool and dining tables as well as an outdoor smoking area. Smoking is allowed inside the club as well. Not many order food but the menu goes from snacky things such as chicken fingers to Steaks. During the summer and when there are a lot of people in the club it can get stuffy but there are industrial sized fans hanging from the cealings in designated areas and are usually turned on to keep clubbers cool. Some of the friendliest bar staff I've ever seen. My experiences here were amazing. There has NEVER been any serious violence whenever i go and i visit quite a bit. On the busier nights there is security on duty which makes everyone feel more safe and have a good time. if you like big crowds Go thursdays if you like moderate crowds i recomend fridays and saturdays. I've never been on a tuesday though i here it's very interesting and Wednesday nights are brand new starting in July 2007. Allowed ages are 18 and up and cover is usually $3 for 21 and up and $5 for minors.

  • Pros: Awesome DJs, Awesome Staff, EVERYONE is welcome

The Wave is THE BEST!!

by mindlessgirl77

The other review on here is BS. The Wave is a fun place to go, I have been going there for at least 5 years now. It's a mixed crowd of people out to have fun. They have different nights, Goth, 80's etc. They drinks are as pricey as at any other bar in the Norfolk area. Everytime I have gone there John has greeted me w/a smile at the door and the bartender knows exactly what I want. The people there are friendly and wont judge you because you don't look like them. It's probably the best club I've been to and that is why I still go.

  • Pros: Good Music and Good Friends
  • Cons: None

The Wave

by markpadgett

The Wave Restaurant is really a misnomer. I would never eat here, and the drinks are unreasonably expensive. It is really a dance club that used to be almost exclusively gay. Now, on Wednesday and Thursday nights, you can find local 18-25 scenesters getting down and acting as though they really love the Smiths and old Madonna. If you really want fun, and to skip some of the kiddies, I recommend going on Saturday night. Tonight is Saturday, and I'll be there. Don't forget to bring mace for the parking lot.

  • Pros: Friendly staff, Bar food
  • Cons: Expensive drinks, Dangerous parking lot
