Good place to relax. I just wanted to find a place to grab a beer and a quick place to eat. The bar is small, but going on a Tues. night, I didn't have a problem finding a seat. Only four beers on tap, but I got to try a dark IPA and an ale, while having a hot pastrami sandwich with cole slaw. I was amazed on how the quickly the food came out.

If you are going to watch sports, this really isn't the place. It has a slightly more upscale feel to it, but it's good to people watch. I found the staff pretty friendly too.

Do NOT Eat at No Frill. 5 good reasons NOT to eat at No Frill:

1- No Frill has a bad ROACH problem

2-No Frill smells of LEAKING SEWAGE GAS, which they try and cover up by putting plastic sheets over offending areas.

3- The secret ingredient is FAT: Their salad dressings are made almost entirely with EXTRA HEAVY MAYO. You can't even buy that in stores...

4- Your food has GLASS in it: especially avoid their pasta salad. Other fun finds include plastic and hair! Yum!

5- They force employees with CONTAGIOUS ILLNESS to continue working, under threat of being fired. Do you want your food cooked or served by a person with the FLU?

excellent. I always love going to the No Frill. The atmosphere, service and food are great. The Spotswood Salad is not to be missed but don't plan on having an entree too, it is huge. One of my favorite places in Norfolk and great place to take friends.

Best place to eat in Ghent on Colley Avenue!!!. I love this place. It is a pleasant place and wonderful food. The servers are very professional. Of all the places to eat in Ghent this is my favorite. I love the atmosphere. Great food with Good prices.

excellent food and great prices!!. Their sandwich menu is huge, and their food is awesome. I highly recommend the garlich mashed potatoes. You are almost guaranteed to take some food home w/ you. Very large portions and very cool atmosphere. I highly recommend for great value and lots of food!

Favorite Spot. If you visit this restaurant, you'll easily understand why it has to be one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. The food is very reasonably priced (par with most chain restaurants) and you can tell it is quality from the first bite. The atmosphere is casual but professional. It's also in the middle of Ghent which makes it easy to find another restaurant if it is outrageously busy!

What do you get when you cross an upscale restaurant with a neighborhood hangout? It's not a riddle but an apt description of No Frill. Just steps from the Naro movie theater, it's more popular than the balcony on a Saturday night. Clusters of khaki-clad yuppies sip microbrews at a back corner bar, while bigger groups with smaller budgets congregate at wood tables with fresh flowers.

The Food
There's something for everyone on the menu: roll-up sandwiches and Buffalo-style wings are perennial favorites, as is the meal-sized London Broil salad topping fresh vegetables with tender strips of marinated steak. The kitchen also has a creative side, serving roasted rockfish with Dijon and charred tomato, onion and baby spinach concasse on one night, and beef tenderloin medallions with sun-dried tomato infused goat cheese, shiitakes and black beans the next.

Great Frills. Great location, ambience, service, and creative food. And a lot of food for the price - overall our favorite place in all of Hampton Roads. As close to a European experience as you can have without being in Europe. If we had to choose only one place to go, this is it.

The best food in the world!!. I was on vacation in Norfolk a few years ago and a friend of mine took me to the no frill bar and grill. I had the filet mignon. I have never in my life had such good food. To this day I still have never had anything so good in my life.

All Frills and not Just Grill. Kinda busy on weekends. Things good off and on the grill. Generous portions. Will probably have to take something home.
