Health Alert!!.
East Side Pizza was once our favorite place to go as a family. We've been there numerous times and usually had good service and great pizza.
However, tonight (2/22/11) was completely different. We walked in and were offered an available booth. We soon noticed the strong smell of urine coming from my side of the booth.
My wife flagged down the waitress who informed us that she was aware of the smell from our booth and that it was from a "regular" customer who always required frequent cleaning and bleaching to each seat she utilized. She said they were afraid to clean it thoroughly in fear of the bleach negatively affecting other customers.
We requested to be moved and were sat on the other side of the restaurant. However, the stench lingered and we noticed that my clothing was soiled from the seat.
The pizza had already been ordered, unfortunately. We requested to speak with the manager. She apologized, stated that she had been aware of the issue, and provided us two 20% off coupons, one to use now and another to use when we come back.
We won't ever be back. The staff was aware of the health hazard before we were sat and did nothing until we had complained. The booth should have been cleaned thoroughly or roped off. The bathrooms were nasty, as well, with the similar stench.
I know this won Hampton Road's "Best" in previous years but our experience tonight killed it for us. They didn't take responsibility for this problem and knowingly exposed us to bodily fluids.…
We LOVE this place!. If you want good pizza, subs or pasta, this is the place! The friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere is great. The food is outstanding, with NY style pizza from a Sicilian family. We are regulars now, and the staff always makes us feel welcome. If you are a local, don't be surprised to see someone you know. We always do!…
Excellent Food. We have been going to East Side Pizza for many years and have never been disappointed. The food is delicious and the service is excellent.
Worst place to go. This place has the pricetags of a fine dining restaurant and it is far from being one. The servers have the worst attitude and are complete snobs. I ordered delivery one night which included a kids meal which cost $8 and only had $2 worth of product on the plate. I tried to order delivery one more time a month later and one hour after the order was placed the driver finally shows up.....I live 60seconds from the restaurant and it was 3pm on a saturday. That is just beyond ridiculous. Will never eat at this place EVER again!…
Best Neighborhood Spot. Food's great and portions are huge. You can split most things so your money goes a loong way. The food is fresh. Most of the servers have been there for years and they get to know you as regulars. Ask for Sophia, she'll take care of you.…
