Virginia's biggest dump – This place deserves no stars but i have to give it one at least. I was there 2 weeks ago and it was a big dissapointment. There were so many men, and very few girls. the girls were really fat and weird. everyone there looked like they walked out of a trailer park, especially the trashy cocktail waitresses who work there. the music was awful. they are racist and do not let black people in. the drinks are over priced, the waitresses will cry for tips and the jello shots were about $5. avoid this place if you can. I suggest Omega, Bayside, or Lunasea for a good time
Best Club in VB for Dancing and Drinks! – A group of girlfriends and I recently went out on a Thursday night for girls night and decided to go into Peabody's. The staff at the front door were very pleasant and we got right in. The bartender quickly got us our drinks and we decided to hit the dance floor. The DJ was playing all the songs we love and even took a couple girlie requests from my friends. We had such a fun girls night and definitely recommend Peabody's as the place to go on Thursdays!!
Consistently The Worst Club In Va. Beach – I have periodically been coming to this establishment ever since I was 18. I will admit that the last time I went here was a couple of years ago, however, I feel that my bad experiences must be shared! I will start by saying that I am a white female, given that, this club IS racist. My husband (then boyfriend) is black and has been going (or at least trying to go) to Peabody's since he was 18. The first few times he tried to go, he was turned away for a host of reasons (it was so long ago, they had yet to have that sign out front) which they made up as they went along. The bouncers informed him that they keep the dress code because it is a classy establishment and for "safety" issues. My husband has never been one to give up, plus he was curious as to how great this place HAD to be if they had such supposedly high standards for dress. He adjusted his appearance to the point where he wore ill-fitting tight pants, sneakers, and removed his hat (he likes wearing it because he has been balding ever since he was a teenager). Once in, he looked around the "classy" club to see the white male patrons in board shorts and flip flops, and the female patrons (and staff) scantly clad looking like hookers. Once he saw the dress code for what it was, he decided to avoid Peabody's as much as possible.
We were both regulars at the Abyss, which did not have an insane dress code and still managed to be safe. Speaking of safety, if you go to Peabody's their dress code will not keep you safe, neither will their bouncers, or bartenders. When you are dancing, the drunken sailors surrounding you will constantly try to grope you and violate you any way they can. The bartenders obviously don't know how to cut anyone off, and that's probably why someone coming home from Peabody's one night went the wrong way down the interstate-real safe guys! Unfortunately, the city building a parking lot caused the Abyss to shut down so we have gone back to Peabody's a few times.
The last time (which we said it would be our last at the time), I walked pass the bouncer with no problem. My husband (who knows the song and dance of their dress code by this point-and was completely adhering to it) was walking behind me by a few steps putting his phone on vibrate and you couldn't tell that he was with me. As I start to go up the steps, I turn to ask him for my ID since I didn't have pockets in my outfit. He wasn't behind me so I turn around to go find him. The bouncers had him held up at the door saying he wasn't obeying their little code. I flat out ask what is wrong with what he is wearing (tight pants, tucked in button up shirt, and sneakers-no hat) and they all look from one to another and then at the owner (whom I gave the most coldest stare to), the owner made a waving motion and said he could go in. I called every one of them racist pieces of crap and they should all be ashamed of themselves. The bouncer in front of my husband muttered something about him thinking he had boots on, and didn't think I would address what he said. I looked right at him and said "On what planet do all-white Nike sneakers, look like Timberland boots?" The bouncer put his head down, and turned back around to the door without a retort.
Please do not contribute to this club, they are trying to perpetrate the Good Ol' Boy system of the 50's and 60's. A boycott is in order!
To Peabody's: If you don't want black people in your establishment, why don't you just put a sign out front that says "Whites Only"? Also, why do you play music by black artists, but refuse to let black people in the club?
Fun atmosphere! – I went there last weekend and had a blast! There were a ton of people there and the music was awesome! I never had to wait for a drink because the bartenders were super fast and the drinks were always a heavy pour! The only con is the dance floor is HUGE, but you can't go on it if you have a drink in your hand.
Great Dance Club! Love the Rockaoke on Saturdays! – Had a chance to go to Peabody's this past Saturday. What a blast. They had a band play early and are group go to do Karaoke early with the band. (Rockyoke) The bands song list was huge.
The drinks were cheap too. $1.50 before 9:00pm.
Loved the Huge Dance Floor Too. We will be back Peabody's!!
Best Dance Club, For This area! – Defineately the best dance spot in this town. There are a lot of girls there. I think the place is cool, and Im hooked on that sunkist drink. I moved here about 6 months ago and its the best CLUB thats in Hampton Roads. the DJs are good too. Last friday I was there early and played Dodgball. They even put a waitress on our team to help us out. She was Hot but not good at Dodgeball. If you are looking to dance, Dont bother going elsewhere, I think this is the only real place that you can dance.
Great Club & Nice Staff!! Huge Dance Floor – My friends and I went for New Years Eve and had a blast. The DJ's are great, the club is clean & the staff is nice. I really like how they enforce a dress code. We had a diverse crowd & we we glad they kept out people who try and act like a THUG.
If you want to go out and dance & have fun Peabody's is the place.
Free Cover charge from 7 - 9 & $1.50 drinks
TERRIBLE CLUB – IT'S ONE OF THE MOST DISCRIMINATED BARS I HAVE EVER SEEN THEY DO NOT WANT BLACK PEOPLE THERE OF ANY SORT AND THE POLICE THAT THEY PAY ARE NO BETTER THEY WILL TURN YOU DOWN AT THE DOOR AND MAKE UP SOME SCREWED UP EXCUSE IF YOU ARE BLACK YOU ARE A TARGET FROM THE GET GO IN VIRGINIA BEACH I HAVE SEEN SUCH A DISCIMINATING NIGHTCLUB AND SOONER OR LATER THEY WILL BE SUED WE ARE GETING A PETITON TOGETHER AGAINST THE UNFAIR TREATMENT OF BLACKS AT THAT BAR AND THE POLICE ,DO NOT GO THERE.....
staff is horrible, weak drinks, – this place is horrible. the bouncers there are the guys that got picked on in high school. the bartenders "stupid blondes" have no clue of what is going on. the drinks are overpriced and weak. if you are down with 20 dollar drink nite this place is for you.
