The living history of Colonial Williamsburg extends to this luxury hotel.. The Scene
Among the hotels of Colonial Williamsburg, this one ranks at the very top. It is where the celebs and heads-of-state stay if they are in town. And were the founding fathers still alive, they would certainly make their dinner reservations at the traditional Regency Dining Room, serving regional cuisine.

The Details
The hotel was closed for a year to undergo the comprehensive renovations that were completed in 2001. Rooms were expanded in size, and bathrooms were turned from already generous to sumptuous. As for the accents, everything was prettied up, from upholstery to chandeliers. There is also a new tearoom and lounge. Dusty pinks and muted golds are among the elegant tones. What remains, thankfully, is the good taste and English Regency style dictated by founder John D. Rockefeller and his wife. The inn's fitness and recreation facilities include a spring-fed swimming pool, clay tennis courts, a golf course, croquet, lawn bowling and a complete health club with spa services.
