One of the BEST Pawn shops around. We have been going to Elite for approximately 2 years, solely as a buyer. We have bought MANY things from Phil, the owner (ie., movies, TV, diamond ring, computer, games, etc.) His store is one of the cleanest you can find. Doesn't even look like the typical Pawn Shop. He has great and friendly staff that work for him. At this point, we consider them more like friends than just a business. We have NEVER had an issue with them. We have spent thousands of dollars there and feel as if we have always gotten 'more' than what we paid for from Phil. There is NOTHING shady about him or the business he operates! We always enjoy going back to his store to see what new arrivals have come in. His friendly banter and sharp wit make him a great person to deal with. We appreciate everything he does for us when we 'just happen to stop in'. If you want a great deal, friendly staff and a CLEAN Pawn Shop to do your buying or pawning, this is the place to go.
Shady business, nightmare to deal with, avoid at all costs.
Ipod Classic 80gb silver, advertised as brand new, arrived used.
Upon arrival, it was immediately noticed that:
1. Item was NOT shrink wrapped
2. Back of item was scratched up
3. Screen was nicked up
4. Item would only power on when plugged to wall outlet
5. Item already had tons of music on it as well as a full length movie!
I immediately let business know. They responded by apologizing, asked me to send the item back, and said they would refund my money. I sent the item back immediately and asked for the full refund plus reimbursement for $5.95 I paid for return shipping.
Shortly after, I received an email from the business telling me that the item will not power up and that the serial number on the item does not match the box and that I better "come up with answers" if I want a refund. I explained to business that I had the same issue with the powering up and that the item did not arrive shrink wrapped, so I have no idea what happened to it before I got it, of course it is possible the serial number on the item did not match that on the box if the box was not wrapped. The fact that the business gets their product from an unreliable source is their issue, not mine.
I again asked for a full refund or I would bring the dispute to Paypal (I paid for the item using PayPal Credit).
So in their next response, they said they would NOT issue a refund. This makes no sense to me. They are admitting the product they sent me does not work, but are now refusing to give me a refund.
What makes me nervous is when the item arrived, I noticed the name of the business is "Elite Pawn Shop". I purchased this item through Ebay, so I did not know this originally. This makes me more apt to believe that the item I received was not "brand new" as advertised.
So I filed a claim with Paypal, seeking $219 for the price I paid for the ipod, plus $5.95 I paid for return shipping.
PayPal reviewed the case and decided in my favor and issued a full refund.
