EAT LIKE A GREEK ONCE A WEEK. Wow where to start, I had the best dining experence last friday night with myself and 7 other close friends here at Orapax. This is only the second time that I have eaten there and it just gets better every time. We started out the night with appetizers.(Spanakopita fresh spinach and feta wrapped in Filo dough, Fried Calamari fried to perfection and the Saganaki what a treat that was.) For are main course we had the Greek Sampler, Chicken Paramesan. the 24 inch Beef Souvlaki (kabob), Lamb Entrada, and a gourmet 14" pizza (Roasted Chicken and Sundried Tomato. We were all taste testing everyones dish. All I can say is Delicious. Not only was the food great but also the waitstaff. Her name was Brittany she did such and awesome job, she was very helpful on choosing the dishes for us. Very experianced young lady. We also Meet Tom the General Manager. He had such a good manner about himself a very happy young man. And we also had the honor to meet the Owner Nick. What a sence of humer he has. Great man now I know why Orapax has been around for over forty years. The man is a genius. One person we didn't see this time was around was John a night manager. Guess he had the night off. We we first meet him we thought he was the owner. He told us he was his son just joking around. John is a very nice yoiung man and knows alot about the food industry. He told us that he was also the manager for Creative Catering of Virginia which is also a part of Orapax. He gave us their number because I told him our daughter was getting married. This is when we had the honor to meet Nadine the wedding cordinator. She made everything so pleasant for us such a great help. bottom line is we hired them and very happy with our choice. In final I just want to say thank you Orapax for a wonderful night. We will be back again and again.
Fool me once.
From start to end, not a good experience at all. Early Saturday evening and not so busy. The most apologetic waiter was slow, forgetful, and unaccomodating for the not-so-trivial (like waiting 15 minutes w/ empty drinks which also means that we did not see John for 15 minutes). Owner/manager/the guy who has his picture at the restaurant's website saw the problem, told the waiter, but failed to make the corrections himself. Sampler platter was tepid at best with the only warm item the beans, and the food lacked taste. Chicken-on-a-stick for the wife was OK.
Fixes: train an attentive wait staff and management, organize the chaotic kitchen and pay attention to details like making sure that the kitchen puts out good and tasty food that is at the proper temperature.
Never again for Greek here, and we truly enjoy that food.
BEST PIZZA EVER!. My wife and myself have been going to the Orapax once a week for at least 15 years. We always get the medium or large double cheese pizza (we can't get off it!) and it's always delicious. Had about 12 friends in town, for about 4 days, and went there. Had a taste of a number of other dishes and they were great also. In fact my friends insisted that we go back there on another evening before they left town. They loved it. Service is always good and the people who work there are always nice and courteous.
This locals' favorite has a pleasant offering of traditional Greek and Mediterranean cuisine at an equally pleasing price..
The Scene
Lilting Greek music wafts from outdoor speakers beckoning would-be diners into the unpretentious neighborhood inn. Inside, against a wood-paneled backdrop, green ivy coils around Greek carpets hanging above simple wooden tables. Low ceilings and dusky lights create a cozy lodge for families, college students and the occasional couple-on-date. The service is prompt and friendly.
The Food
The no-frills menu centers on traditional Greek dishes like pungent, mouthwatering dolmades, spicy beef-filled grape leaves served in a tart egg-lemon sauce, and rich spanikopita oozing spinach and feta. Sweet pastitso--elbow macaroni, zesty meat sprinkled with cinnamon covered in a rich b?chamel sauce--is a local favorite. Robust eggplant mousaka and grilled lamb-and-vegetable kabobs are great for sharing. The pizza, some of the best in town, tops fresh, chewy crusts with anything from traditional pepperoni and cheese to lamb, spinach or feta.
WOWSER!. I just moved to the area, and went out to eat with longtime West Ghentiens Jim and Wendy Hazel at the Orapax. I had my heart set on stuffed grape leaves, that I first tasted at the base of the Acropolis in Athens. However, I was entranced by the Lamb Entrada.....what a surprise. The meal was well cooked, the service impeccable. I even sampled the Aries beer, good stuff. I will definitely be a return visitor. Great food, great prices, great service. A West Ghent classic!
Tracey. I have never had better pizza in my life. It is wonderful, the people are great, the restaurant is great. I have had pastas from them that were wonderful. Great Restaurant !!
Greekalicious!. The food is absolutely out of this world! I can not fully describe how good it was other than you got to try it yourself. What makes the food even better is the ambience of the restaurant. Authentically Greek! Orapax Inn serves exquisite food with great service.
Orapax, Greece (tastes like it). Tried something besides gyros. got Moushka with appetizer of dolomades. All dishes come with salad. House dressing very good. Moushka under crust good. Setting has Greece rugs on ceiling.
Awesome. Orapax Inn has an awesome atmosphere and even more awesome pizza!!! The service has always been excellent!!! They even offer delivery in case you are working late at the office or are just feeling lazy.
We travel 3 hours for Orapax!. The Chicken Souvlaki is fabulous!!!! The homey decor is relaxing and our server has been pleasant and helpful at each visit. Even though there is always a line at dinner, people seem happy and okay with waiting.
