If you need to visit someone on the Norfolk Naval Base and need a hotel, this is the best place to stay in winter. It's a couple of miles off the gates and the room rate in winter is affordable. They offer complimentary continental breakfast with some really nice items (such as oatmeal bars), and the room is comfortable enough. Of course, Hilton's Double-Dipping rewards program is a nice add-on as well. The parking may sometimes get a little tight, but we have always been able to find parking. However, the room rate is doubled in summer, so it is no longer a great deal then. Even so, the occupancy rate is actually much higher in summer due to the tourists coming to the beach. It is very difficult to book a room in summer, unless you call way ahead of time.

PROS: Right off base, free continental breakfast, great winter rates.

CONS: Significantly higher summer rates and occupancy.

Moderately priced hotel chain offers a clean, consistent stay and complimentary breakfast.
